A family of four
We are a family of four based in Aarhus, Denmark. We are increasingly concerned about how modern life produces huge plastic island, stressed families and way too much carbon dioxide emission just to mention a few alarming symptoms of a lifestyle gone wrong.
Until late 2016 both of us adults had full time career jobs in two large multinational companies. In our attempts to also live healthy lifes, bringing up our children with good values, spending time with friends, eating organic, reducing waste, spending quality time together as a family we felt short of time, energy and passion day after day, week after week, month after month and to be honest year after year.
Speeding up or slowing down
During most of 2016 we all felt how our choice of life wasn’t right. In short our family had way too little patience and heart leading to way too many conflicts and stress. We did not have big problems like mistriving children or a divorce coming up but does it really have to come so far before we stop and start taking responsible for our own happiness and the well-being of the planet that we live and depend on?
To keep up with all the everyday logistics of our work and family life we considered to buy an extra car, hire a babysitter and moreover we had to cut corners on homemade food, taking the car instead of bicycling, buying new instead of mending, tumble drying instead of air drying etc. But it just didn’t feel right.
Instead of hitting the gas pedal further we decided to take a small detour on and old dusty country road to slow down and see what a different lifestyle might bring us. Consequently I left inspiring collegueas and a great job within food innovation behind me in the end of 2016.
A more conscious and sustainable life
With this blog we invite people to follow our attempts to create a holistic and sustainable lifestyle that allow us as individuals and as a family to be as close, happy and healthy as possible while being conscious about how our choices influence the future existence of the Earth.
Surely there will be ups and downs as well as things we easily let go of and things we hang on to. Besides we don’t have half of the answers to where we’ll end, how far we’ll go, how long it will take and what exactly we will do but that does not really matter because right now it feels right in every fiber of my body to embark this journey.
